What’s the hype about spin cycling? Why are all my friends going for spin classes? Does it actually help to improve one’s fitness? Splink is here to answer all these questions!
What is spin cycling?
Some of us may wonder, why would one go for a spin class instead of going cycling outdoors. Well, it is a new and unique experience. Even while “cycling”, a spin class feel more like a party than working out! Most of the time when cycling outside, it feels like a workout, with that voice telling you to “stop and turn back”. But for spin cycling, on top of the fun vibes, you get motivation from the instructor to push yourself, something most of us find hard to achieve by ourselves!

Does it actually help to improve one’s fitness?
Spin cycling is actually a great full body workout! Beside working out your legs and your core, it is also a great cardiovascular workout due to the high intensity and temp during classes. Some classes even incorporate the use of light dumbbell to engage the upper body as well. A typical session lasts about 45 minutes and burns around 500 calories, equivalent to a 5km run!

What’s with the hype?
On top of all the physical benefits, spin cycling is also a great way of socializing! Spin cycling has a very supportive community, with constant pushing and encouragement. During most workouts, most of us struggle with pushing ourselves and feel like giving up at a certain point, but during a spin class, there are many people and instructors around you, and that helps you to subconsciously push yourself! Additionally, there are many group packages available and try-outs for first time users, so why not find a time and try it out with your friends!

So what are you waiting for? Get your group of friends up and headed down to your nearest spin class!
